Submit Your Nomination for the 2020 ROI Publication Award
Nominations for the 2020 ROI Publication Award are now open! You are invited to nominate an early career investigator who is the lead author of an outstanding manuscript on one of the priority areas for radiation oncology that form the ROI’s research agenda: communication, safety and quality, toxicity management, comparative effectiveness and value. To focus on recognizing emerging leaders in research, the ROI updated the criteria for this year’s award to specify that the lead author must be a resident, fellow or within 10 years of completing their terminal training program.
The ROI Publication Award has become a sought-after honor among investigators focused on patient-centered outcomes and the lifesaving and quality of life benefits of radiation therapy. Past awardees include David Palma, MD, PhD, for his article “Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy Versus Standard of Care Palliative Treatment in Patients with Oligometastatic Cancers (SABR-COMET): A Randomised Phase 2, Open-Label Trial” and Amar Kishan, MD, for his article “Radical Prostatectomy, External Beam Radiotherapy, or External Beam Radiotherapy With Brachytherapy Boost and Disease Progression and Mortality in Patients With Gleason Score 9-10 Prostate Cancer.” The ROI is excited to present the 2020 Publication Award at the ASTRO Annual Meeting in Miami, Florida on Sunday, October 25, at the Celebration of Giving reception. Lead authors of up to two manuscripts will also be recognized with Honorable Mentions.
The 2020 Publication Award winner will receive a $5,000 grant to be used on research that will build upon the work in the award-winning manuscript. A description of the proposed research must be included in the nomination statement along with an explanation of how the published research aligns with the ROI’s research agenda and the impact that it will have on radiation oncology.
The deadline to submit a nomination for the 2020 ROI Publication Award is Thursday, July 2, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time. Articles must have been published in a peer-reviewed journal with a publication date between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020. Self-nominations are accepted.
