See You in the Second City

The Radiation Oncology Institute is excited to be a part of the upcoming ASTRO Annual Meeting and is looking forward to engaging with many of you at our events and activities in Chicago. It’s one of the few opportunities we have to see our supporters in person, and we hope that you will take time to stop by the ROI booth #808 in the Innovation and Solution Showcase. There you can talk with some of the ROI’s talented investigators and learn about their practice-changing research. Members of the Board of Trustees will also be at the booth to greet you and discuss the work of the foundation. Please see the schedule regarding when you can meet the researchers and Trustees so that you can plan your visit to the ROI booth. Be sure to also include some time to see presentations of ROI-funded research at the Annual Meeting, which are listed in the same schedule. On Sunday, September 15, you can book individual sessions at the booth with financial planner, Russell LaGreca, who will be the presenter at the “Securing Your Future: Tax Reform, Personal Financial Planning and Charitable Giving” breakfast session that morning.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the 5K Run for the Future to Benefit the ROI. We are so grateful to all of you who have helped make this such a fun event full of camaraderie and friendly competition, especially race host Radiation Business Solutions (RBS). They have selected another wonderful course that will take runners and walkers along the western shore of Lake Michigan just after sunrise on Monday, September 16. Over the years, the 5K has raised $400,000 for radiation oncology research because all registrations, donations and sponsorships go directly to the ROI. You can still register online or in-person on Sunday, September 15, at the RBS booth #4232, where participants can pick up race bibs and t-shirts. We can’t wait to see all of you out there racing for research again!

Finally, the Annual Meeting is a time to recognize you, our donors, and why you give to the ROI. Visit the ROI booth to see your name listed as one of our generous supporters and read quotes from a variety of contributors. You can also pick up your donor ribbon that you can proudly display on your nametag. When you make a gift at the booth, you can add your name to the chalkboard of Annual Meeting donors. We also love toasting the members of the ROI President’s Circle, Founders’ Circle and Legacy Circle at the Celebration of Giving Reception where we will honor the 2019 ROI Publication Award winner as well. You can show your support for the ROI by attending our events and stopping by the booth at the ASTRO Annual Meeting, and we hope to see many new and familiar faces in Chicago!
