- ROI conducts unbiased research on new and existing treatment outcomes to:
- Identify linkages between best practices and improved outcomes.
- Evaluate the efficacy and cost-benefit of radiation therapy.
- ROI fosters multi-institutional research efforts illuminating radiation oncology.
PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATION AND INFORMATION DISSEMINATION
- ROI publishes and disseminates unbiased data and trends about radiation therapy for the public, providers, other medical specialties, payers and other external constituents.
- ROI serves as a hub and clearinghouse for information and analysis about radiation therapy.
- ROI supports research that documents the value, safety, benefits and cost-effectiveness of radiation therapy and improves treatment outcomes for patients.
- ROI envisions the preferred future of the practice and helps the specialty prepare for it.
- Collaborative Project with RTOG: ROI is funding an analysis to examine toxicity of 3D-CRT versus IMRT in prostate cancer.
- Radiation Oncology Data Registry: ROI is developing a data dictionary and structure to start a registry of radiation therapy treatments for cancer and results achieved.
- National Research Needs Assessment: ROI is developing a prioritized national research agenda, which will form the blueprint of ROI research for the next three to five years.
